Bike Or
The idea for Bike Or began in 2010 with a passion for Sardinia. It grew from bike hire into a business offering repairs, sales, guided tours and cycling courses in Oristano.
From a university idea to a cycling business
In 2010, while I was still at university, I had the idea of doing something for my island, Sardinia.
My aim was to make Oristano a centre for active tourism. An entrepreneurial approach, some risk-taking and funding helped me start my business. When it opened in 2013, few people believed in this small “bike hire service”.
Starting in a small wooden building with a few dozen bikes, my main strength was enthusiasm. This came with a constant desire to grow and keep learning.
In 2015 my love of bikes led me to train in mechanics at the National MTB Academy. Bike Or then also became a workshop. That year I also qualified as a tour guide, adding more depth to my tours. Two years later, Bike Or became a full bike shop where customers could also order their chosen bicycle.
A good bike is only part of the experience: learning how to use it well is just as useful.
Then in 2018 I became a federation instructor, joined the register of cycling guides and began organising courses for all ages and different needs.
